fav movies!
Oldboy (2003) with artful use of color and symbolism, an original soundtrack that immerses you deep into a mind on the brink of madness and devastating performances each and every scene, Oldboy is a shock to the system i can never recover from. a gripping spiral into the darkness of the vengeful human spirit and an absolute masterclass in the science of film. |
Mulholland Drive (2001) a sickening and tragic affair between the film itself, the audience and the industry as a whole, Mulholland Drive opened my eyes to the ways in which cinema can breach the boundaries of the tv screen. masterful on every level from the primal to the metaphorical, and grieving of innocence in a way that left me reeling, Mulholland Drive is more than just a film - it's a nightmare. |
Juno (2007) ...helped me learn to love. i discovered this movie with a special person at a time in my life when love was all i had, and rewatch after rewatch it reminds me that behind all the legalese of the world is the people that keep its heart pumping, and that maybe these high concept worries of yours are not so serious after all. a misfit coming of age film soaked in sharp-witted sincerity and set to probably my favourite soundtrack of all time. |
Whisper of the Heart (1995) a weathered page from the book of creative youth, Whisper of the Heart expresses perfectly and earnestly the delicate balance between a developing cynical outlook and unquenchable passion for love and art that defined my childhood. so genuine and tender and so alive in its imaginative spirit, it's a romance i'll lose myself to no matter how many years go by. |

fav shows!
Twin Peaks (1990) slow, brooding, surreal and surprisingly funny, Twin Peaks takes you on a walk in the woods turned excursion into hell and will have you glued to the screen for every second of it. through desperately dreamy lighting breaks a violent reality, and through the deafening silence rings the foregone plea of laura palmer and every other girl like her. from the soundtrack to the cinematography to the costume design, it's a beautifully crafted world that a piece of me will forever be lost in. |
Severance (2022) the greatest modern mystery since return of the obra dinn (probably). absolutely filled with character, sharp comedy that never ceases to give way to crushing feelings of dread, and shot composition that could send a shiver down your spine. psychologically, narratively and visually thrilling with a haunting soundtrack to boot. if you're a fan i also recommend Homecoming (2018) :) |
Mr Robot (2015) capitalism on its deathbed and the intimate effects of that, a resistance which seems futile and personal triumphs which seem ever further away, Mr Robot is a sinking reflection of the juxtaposition between our desires to put out the fires of injustice versus our devastating smallness as individuals just barely able to cope within our lives alone. artistic, exhilarating, morbid and true. |
Flight of the Conchords (2007) placeholder text sry excuese |
